- Manage a portfolio of major gift ($25,000+) prospective donors, with independent responsibility to develop and execute strategies leading to successful cultivation and solicitation activities.
- Actively solicit prospects and donors and meet mutually established goals related to solicitations, gift closures, prospects met, and qualifications. This includes utilizing various giving vehicles, such as in-kind and planned gifts.
- Develop positive, professional working relationships with staff members within Rutgers-Camden.
- Clearly articulate, in written and verbal form, the needs and priorities Rutgers-Camden to make a compelling case for support.
- Collaborate with Rutgers-Camden fundraisers and Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) colleagues to effectively communicate and comply with operational policies and procedures; accurately analyze and maintain reports, data, and unit documents; and follow RUF policies and procedures as they relate to prospect management, solicitation, and follow-up procedures.
- Ensure timely reporting and tracking of contacts, solicitations, events planning, etc. through RUF tracking systems.
- Develop cutting-edge alumni cultivation strategies and networking activities in partnership with advancement colleagues, including prospect research, alumni records, and donor relations.

Description
The Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) seeks a mission-driven, entrepreneurial, and collaborative advancement professional to serve as its Associate Director of Development. The ADOD will proactively seek out connections with individuals to raise philanthropic support on behalf of Rutgers-Camden and programs across the University. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an institution that is at the vanguard of generating new ideas to improve society and that operates with a true sense of purpose.
The ADOD will cultivate prospects and donors rated at the leadership and major gift level, actively soliciting prospects and donors but also developing a meaningful stewardship strategy to ensure continued engagement and giving. The ADOD will play a critically important role in fully building out the fundraising portfolio for initiatives that support the Rutgers-Camden strategic plan, focusing on relationship-driven donor cultivation while also seeking new opportunities for philanthropic support and identifying new prospects through community interaction (internal and external).
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement, the ADOD will work closely with the fundraising team at Rutgers-Camden. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of three years of fundraising experience with a track record of success in identifying donors and establishing partnerships with individuals. The incoming ADOD thinks strategically and creatively in their efforts to build pipelines and relationships with cultural fluency, empathy, and high emotional intelligence. The candidate is a natural business builder with an approach that believes there are no dead ends but only new avenues to pursue; offers an authentic and collaborative approach that builds trust; and the professional maturity, respect, and intellectual curiosity to partner with multiple deans, faculty, and colleagues. They must be a self-starter and be able to handle complex organizational details while multitasking.

Bachelor's degree and three to five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, advancement, non-profit, or higher education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a higher education environment and university student affairs. Master's degree preferred.

Working Conditions
This position requires working evenings, weekends, or odd hours to meet resource-raising commitments. Typical working conditions with an absence of disagreeable elements. Travel is also required to meet external constituent's schedules. This position requires little physical effort.
