    Saint Joseph's University's Department of Sociology has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester in the fields of Sociology and Criminal Justice.

    Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct 1 or 2 courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. There is not guarantee we will need any additional instructors in any given semester. We offer both undergraduate and graduate courses, both online and on-ground. Please specify your availability to be on campus in Philadelphia during the day.

    Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening and may include:


    • Introduction to Sociology
    • Social Problems
    • Juvenile Justice
    • Social Deviance
    • Sociological Theory
    • Other courses as they become available

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Teaching of a specified course

    Preparation of course materials

    Providing support and guidance to students

    Grade reporting

    Additionally, adjunct faculty may be expected to teach a specified online course.


    Secondary Responsibilities:
    Cooperating with course coordinators or other program faculty to assure quality and consistency across the program


    Minimum Requirements:
    Master's Degree in Sociology or Criminal Justice or closely related majors and/or a Juris Doctorate. (In some cases, individuals with a Bachelor's Degree and extensive experience as a practitioner may qualify.)


    Preferred Qualifications:


    Preference will be given to candidates who have an ABD or PhD in Sociology or Criminal Justice, previous teaching experience, and willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.
