THE POSITION:

The Department of Corrections (DOC), Philadelphia Community Corrections Center is seeking a highly motivated Corrections Counselor 2 to join our dynamic Treatment Team at the Philadelphia Community Corrections Center.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


  • As a Corrections Counselor 2 for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for providing professional counseling services and casework management in a supportive environment in accordance with all policies and procedures. This is accomplished by utilizing both individual and group counseling techniques on a weekly basis. In this role, you will have an opportunity to assist reentrants with setting and achieving goals related to employment, training, education, housing, and community service. Join the DOC in their mission to reduce criminal behavior by providing individualized treatment and education to offenders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment (40hour work week)
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 30minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 5
    Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be nonnegotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • One year as a Corrections Counselor 1 (commonwealth title);
    or
  • One year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility, and a bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.

Special Requirement:


  • All employees must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
