The Role:

The Hometap Finance team is focused on contributing to the growth and success of Hometap Equity Partners, and its associated investment vehicles, through accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting & analysis; serving as a collaborative, trusted business partner to internal stakeholders to promote efficiency and scalability; working with prospective and current capital partners to deliver an A+ experience; and using data-driven insights to inform financial and operational decisions across the organization.

Finance is organized into three collaborative verticals:
Accounting, Capital Market Operations, and Strategic Finance

Who you are:

We are seeking a Controller who will lead and grow the Accounting team and play a major role in Hometaps continued success.

This role will report to the VP of Finance and work closely with the other Finance verticals (Capital Market Operations & Strategic Finance) and across the overall organization.

In this role, youll manage the Accounting Team and lead all accounting processes relating to Hometaps operating company (Opco).

Additionally, youll play a key role in support of Capital Market Operations by providing leadership around financial statement presentation, accounting preferences & policies, and act as audit liaison for our investment funds, ensuring alignment between all of our entities.

The ideal candidate will bring a mix of public accounting and operating experience in a growth-stage environment, with deep accounting knowledge and a cross-functional, collaborative approach.

Lead Hometaps accounting team and processes; manage and grow a four-person team, with a focus on fostering employee engagement and professional developmentOwn the timely completion of the month-end close for Opco, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processProvide quality assurance on quarterly financial reporting for FundsLead the preparation and presentation of financial analysis and performance reports, along with MD&A commentary, for internal and external stakeholdersOversee payroll processes for HometapLead annual audit process for Opco and Funds, with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate completionOversee tax filings and quarterly estimated payments for Opco and Funds, in conjunction with internal stakeholder and external tax advisors and fund accountantsEnsure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulationsResearch and author accounting policies and procedure documentation for existing business and research accounting implications for new product lines across Opco and FundsMaintain and enhance internal systems, processes, and internal controls.

Support potential corporate transactions including capital raises or M&A integrations (systems and financial)

Professionally interact, and partner, with operational stakeholders/counterparts at our equity and debt investorsWhat youll bring: 7+ years of relevant experience, with experience in both public and private accounting.

A CPA is required, and the ideal candidate will have worked as a Controller in a related industry (credit, real estate, or private equity funds; other asset management; public equities)Experience at a growth-stage business and in building, managing, and scaling accounting functionsKnowledge and experience with state and federal taxation for pass-through entities and corporationsProficiency with using Excel to manipulate and analyze financial statements and related dataStrong critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify and summarize key points in any analysisDeveloped prioritization skills and ability to balance both short-term and long-term objectives while maintaining strong attention to detailHistory of working cross-functionally and building positive relationships with people and teams across a diverse organization, maintaining effective cross-functional communicationAn ownership approach to your work with a track record of delivering business results through operational excellence in a fast-paced environmentCuriosity and desire to implement new ideas and processes to drive efficiencies and scalability, with experience putting this into practiceWillingness and ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members and help them realize their full potentialExperience with Netsuite and other accounting softwareHometap is on a mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible.
