    El-Hag & Associates is a Plaintiff labor & employment firm representing employees in New York & New Jersey. We are seeking a new associate attorney. The position is remote, but the firm is reopening its physical office for two years in the next year when the position will be hybrid. This is an excellent opportunity to perform substantial litigation work very quickly.

    We are seeking an associate with prior litigation experience and in employment litigation. However, we are open to hiring a new candidate and training the individual if they have solid writing skills. Upon hiring, you will be assigned approximately 80 cases and two paralegals to work with.

    I. Compensation Range: $120,000- $180,000. This compensation is designed to cover all hours worked in a workweek. a. Flat weekly salary: $1,500 per week b. Case bonus structure: 15% of the after-expense case value of each assigned case closed. Upon securing the settlement proceeds from the cases you close, payment will be made. This does not mean that you are vested in the outcome of every firm case upon hiring. You must be employed when the cases are closed and have worked the case. c. Severance agreement review: $200 flat fee for each review/consultation.

    II. Responsibilities:

    1. Case Strategy: a. Determine the case theory b. Determine the course of conduct & causes of action.

    2. Demand letter a. Review, edit, and sign off on demand letter and damage computation.

    3. Pleadings stage: a. Review, edit, and sign off on pleadings.

    4. Discovery phase propounding: a. Review discovery plan b. Review discovery demands and see what information we need to collect, sign off, and send.

    5. Discovery phase receiving: a. Review and sign off on deficiency letters.

    6. Depositions: a. Instruct the paralegals on exhibit notebook for depositions b. Create exhibit outline c. Conduct depositions d. Defend depositions e. Prepare witnesses for depositions

    7. Motions: a. Drafting motions. i. Summary judgment ii. Motion to compel iii. Motions in limine iv. Motion for protective order

    8. Court Appearances. Appear in state and federal court in person or virtual as needed.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    Litigation experience (court appearances, trial, deposition, negotiation).
