Labor and Employment Associate

Key Responsibilities:


  • Providing legal advice and guidance on employment law matters, including but not limited to hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issues.
  • Handling employee disciplinary matters, labor grievances and arbitrations and collective bargaining negotiation
  • Handling cases before administrative tribunals such as the Public Employment Relations Board, Office of Civil Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and New York State Division of Human Rights
  • Handling employmentrelated litigation from discovery through trial including drafting discovery motions, motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis to support decisionmaking and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employmentrelated agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Providing legal advice regarding education related matters including special education services and handling impartial hearings.
  • Collaborate with client's internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other legal teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Staying informed about developments in employment law and advise on potential impacts to the organization.

Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association.
  • 57 years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on the public or educational sector preferred.
  • State and federal court litigation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fastpaced environment.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience


Salary:
$125k-$150k
