**Position Summary**
The Director of Transportation is responsible for all transportation activities, personnel, and equipment for FN Logistics. They will direct all activities regarding logistics for shipping and receiving in an efficient manner, while staying consistent with company established policies and procedures. The employee will also develop and adhere to budgets for all physical transportation activities. Ultimately, ensuring the safety and quality of FN Logistics transportation functions and dynamic.
**Essential Functions**
The Director of Transportation will hold discussions with stakeholders about strategic direction and analyze financial reports to spot trends and opportunities. They will further optimize the transportation network from the inside, while constantly researching and testing software tools, management methodologies, and workflow processes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Owns the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organization
Facilitates and manages shipment vendor relationships and compliance
Responsible for guiding and directing the transportation team and other operational leaders to achieve shipment related goals and productivity
Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of warehouse operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports
Utilize planning and execution skills to clearly set team, peer, and individual priorities and proactively structure resources to meet them
Design, implement, and lead programs and processes focused on continuous improvement within distribution center as it applies to the transportation department and/or shipment process
Maintain excellent peer relationships that foster open communication and collaboration with the intent of positively impacting the organizations results
Manage budgets as assigned; this includes managing expenses, minimizing loss, and maximizing revenue
Facilitate, support, and participate in all senior leadership activities and meetings as assigned
Other duties as assigned
**Education & Experience Requirements**
Associate's or bachelors degree in Management
8-10 plus years of experience managing transportation and/or shipping departments in a distribution center
Must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands including overnight, weekends and holidays
Able to read and interpret necessary policies and procedures to perform updates and operate systems and other programs within the Distribution Center
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
**Knowledge & Skill Requirements**
People in this role should have a commitment to getting tasks completed and a hands-on approach to work. This role is well-suited for people with leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a keen attention to detail. In addition, the following knowledge and skills are required:
Skilled at synthesizing data from multiple sources and distill their findings into actionable steps for improvement
Comfortable negotiating contracts
Experience with Microsoft Office and all Google Drive Office Suite
Experience with performance metrics and process improvement
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and use of professional judgement in stressful situations
Ability to motivate others with strong conflict management and problem-solving skills
