Sylvan Learning, the industry leader in supplemental education, is seeking dedicated tutors to join our team in the Los Angeles area as we work with LAUSD students and schools.

Work will take place at local elementary schools, where you will provide support to school district teachers, as well as math and reading tutoring as needed.

Locations:

We have participating schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area. You will be assigned to a school site near you.


Schedule:

Tutors must be available for work June 18, 2024-July 19, 2024 between the hours of 8AM and 1PM on the weekdays.

There will be 21 days of school site tutoring and you must be available for the duration of the program.

You will also need to attend in-person training prior to the beginning of the program.


Compensation:

• School Site Tutoring: $150/day (8AM1PM)
• Mandatory Training (approximately 16 hours of inperson training): $17/hour
• Completion Incentive: Up to $400 bonus for completing entire summer program

Responsibilities:

• Support LAUSD teachers as they deliver their lessons
• Deliver guided, scripted curriculum to groups of up to 8 students in the case teachers are unable to deliver their lessons
• Set up and manage the learning environment
• Collaborate with Program Manager and Director to ensure smooth program execution
• Attend training provided by Sylvan and participate in shadowing experiences as needed

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associate's Degree or 2years college completion toward 4year degree required
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Must have reliable transportation.

- Must obtain a TB clearance and complete a live scan background check
