    Description

    The Human Resources Specialist with Media Production Knowledge will contribute to the operations of the HR department by implementing HR strategies, managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with regulations, specializing in roles within media production and PR. Additionally, this role requires a unique blend of traditional HR skills and a strong understanding of media production processes. This position is ideal for a candidate who not only has a background in HR but also possesses knowledge in media production, enabling them to support and understand the unique needs of creative teams and projects within the organization. This is an onsite position in NYC.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct recruitment efforts for all personnel, including writing and placing job ads, with a strong ability to discern candidates' fit for roles within media production and PR among other areas.
    • Collaborate with department managers to understand their HR needs, providing support that acknowledges the specific requirements of creative and technical teams.
    • Support the management and execution of HR programs and policies.
    • Advise managers on organizational policy matters and recommend needed changes.
    • Perform benefits administration, change reporting, and communicate benefit information to employees, with awareness of the specific needs and trends within media production and other sectors.
    • Develop, analyze, and update the companys evaluation program.
    • Develop, revise, and recommend personnel policies and procedures.
    • Maintain and revise the companys handbook on policies and procedures.
    • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
    • Maintain department records and reports.
    • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
    • Maintain company directory and other organizational charts.
    • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with coursework or experience in media studies, communication, or a similar area preferred.
    • 2 years of human resource management experience, with demonstrated ability to manage recruitment and understand role requirements across different departments, including those focused on media production.
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
    • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
    • Familiarity with the creative processes and technical aspects of media production roles.
    • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across various departments, including creative and technical teams.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

    Skills

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
