- Own the development of Beckman Microbiology's annual 35year strategic plan.
- Drive key workstreams contributing to the strategic plan, assessing our core & growth markets as well as current and potential future technologies and determining how to position Beckman to win.
- Develop and coordinate planning with other workstream leaders, technical & operations stakeholders, the analytics & insight center of excellence, and others.
- Drive the development of portfolio planning for Beckman Microbiology while evaluating the situation, making recommendations, and managing Beckman's response. Areas for assessment may include key business opportunities, organizational initiatives, mergers & acquisitions, open innovation, partnerships / alliances, etc.
- Drive initiatives that improve Beckman's capabilities and/or drive further clarity in Commercial, R&D, innovation, and portfolio initiatives across the enterprise.
- Support Commercial growth and expansion initiatives globally.
- Build strong relationships with BU & functional teams at Beckman Microbiology and Danaher Dx.
- Bachelor's degree in related field with 5+ years of related consulting including deep business strategy consulting or 15+ of corporate strategy experience
- Strong knowledge and experience in medical technologies, life sciences, or biopharma; specific knowledge and experience in clinical diagnostics products and markets highly preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in strategy, either in corporate strategy, business development, or strategic marketing roles or in management consulting
- Excellent communication skills, including effective presentation skills can effectively communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view.
- Ability to frame and solve complex problems, including problems that require broad perspectives and innovative solutions.
- Excellent research and analytical abilities, including skill in both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to work independently, with guidance needed in only complex situations, as well as the proven ability to work successfully within an international and virtual team.

The Director, Strategic Initiatives and Market Insights , for Beckman Coulter Microbiology is responsible for developing the 3-5-year strategic plan each year, defining the company's priorities, and assessing key decisions, proposals, opportunities, and investments by effectively framing key questions and analyzing business markets, trends, competition, portfolios, technologies, and revenues to help the Beckman leadership team answer them.
The position will also be responsible for mapping product portfolio expansion opportunities with the objective of developing a world leading product portfolio of diagnostic tools for infectious diseases and microbiology.
In addition, the position will play a central role in developing commercial, growth, and innovation strategies globally, in close collaboration with functional heads.
This position is part of the Beckman Microbiology's executive L1 team, and report directly to the President of Beckman Microbiology, with a dotted line into the Strategic Business Development function of Beckman Dx.
On site location in Sacramento, CA is preferred but remote access will be considered. The Director, Corporate Strategy (Microbiology) position supports Beckman Coulter Microbiology in developing its 3-5 year strategic plan each year, defining the company's priorities, and assessing key decisions, proposals, opportunities, and investments by effectively framing key questions and analyzing business markets, trends, competition, portfolios, technologies, and revenues to help the Beckman leadership team answer them.

This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
