    The Housing and Residential Education (HRE) team at the University of Denver is committed to providing housing and support services for over 3,000 on-campus students.     Position Summary

    Each Property Manager holds a 20 hour per week, academic year appointment (August 19, 2024, to June 20, 2025) with Housing & Residential Education and reports directly to the Housing Program Manager , or otherwise designated supervisor, while supporting the House Corporation for the chapter with whom the Property Manager resides .This is a live-in position. Housing includes u nfurnished one-bedroom unit all utilities included.

    The Property Manager shares the responsibility for the operation of a co-curricular facility in which they strive to promote inclusive communities. The Property Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the chapter facility, in conjunction with the House Corporation, to ensure that the Chapter House meets University standards regarding health and safety expectations.

    This is a temporary, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

    Essential Duties

    There are unique aspects of each Property Manager position at the University of Denver. Each House Property Manager must meet with the House Corporation to review those aspects of the positions that are unique to that chapter house. Each Property Manager is expected to fulfil the following responsibilities, in addition to others that may be assigned throughout the year:

    For Housing & Residential Education
    • Be familiar with the student engagement platform Crimson Connect for necessary administrative tasks
    • Participate in University sponsored, semi-annual training in August and January
    • Attend r egularly scheduled Property Manager Meetings with Housing & Residential Education
    • Be knowledgeable of how students can access University services and opportunities
    • Adhere to all rules set forth by the house corporation and Housing & Residential Education in the living space except for having alcohol in their living space if they are 21+ years old
    • Participate in training s and development to build necessary competencies
    • Serve as the primary advocate for the University of Denver, specifically Housing & Residential Education
    Facility Management
    • Work closely with House Corporation, the Chapter Advisor, and the Housing Program Manager
    • Coordinate necessary work orders for the facility, in conjunction with the University's Department of Facility Management, the House Corporation, and the Housing Program Manager
    • Liaise with Campus Safety, Pioneer ID Office, and IT
    • M anage the technical aspects of the key inventory, card access, and outside door access to those facilities with appropriate technology
    • Along with the Housing & Residential Education Office, facilitate the check in/out process, damages process, auditing placements, charges and applications .
    • Provide reports, including life safety issues, work order requests, and overall state of the facility, to Housing & Residential Education and to the House Corporation
    • Assist Student Chapter House Manager in:
      • Conducting bi-weekly walk-throughs of the facility
      • Submitting work orders in a timely fashion and follow ing up with responsible parties
    • Be present for all Facility and Campus Safety inspections by the University
    • Be educated on the rules and regulations of the University of Denver Student Code of Conduct, Fraternity and Sorority Life Risk Management Policy, the inter/national organization, and state, local and federal laws as they pertain to the facility
    For the Fraternity/Sorority House Corporation
    • Provide monthly, Bi-Weekly, or Weekly reports regarding damage incidents, damage accountability issues, work order requests and fulfillment, the overall condition of the Chapter House to Facility Management and the House Corporation
    • Be a physical presence to remind undergraduate members of the University and Organization of expectations regarding alcohol and drug use, hazing , and personal conduct
    • Once a week, walk inside and outside chapter house to ensure trash is being disposed of properly, there are no broken windows or shattered glass lying loose, check for damage to exit signs, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, windows, walls, doors, and furniture
    • The Property Manager is not expected to inspect individual residence rooms, except as a member of an inspection team with the House Corporation or University.
    • The Property Manager must report any issues in individual residence rooms to the House Corporation or University of Denver, as appropriate
    • In coordination with the Housing Program Manager , prepare and monitor the status of all work orders submitted to the University's Facilities Management
    • Be present for all Facility and Campus Safety inspections by the University
    • In tandem with the Housing Program Manager , conduct room check-in and check-out procedures during opening and closing periods each quarter
    • Using procedures developed by Housing & Residential Education, facilitate room changes by members, when necessary
    • In coordination with Student Chapter House Manager, conduct one meeting with the chapter during the first two weeks of the fall and winter quarters for residents to become familiar with rules, regulations, fire drills, evacuation plans and behavioral expectations
    • Consult with House Corporation President or designated board member on any issues not included herein
    For the Chapter Advisor/Alumni Advisory Board
    • Attend chapter events , where appropriate and available, involving alumni or parents
    • Be knowledgeable of rules and expectations of the national fraternity's/sorority's Code of Conduct, University of Denver Student Code of Conduct, Fraternity and Sorority Life Harm Reduction & Prevention Policy and local, state, and federal laws as they pertain to the facility
    • Provide monthly reports regarding damage incidents, damage accountability issues, and your general impressions of the chapter to Housing & Residential Education , Housing Corporation, and Alumni Advisory Board
    Individual Student Development
    • Be knowledgeable about University of Denver services and opportunities available to students
    • Be knowledgeable about Fraternity and Sorority Life policies, procedures, and expectations
    • Act as a referral agent to other University resources, as necessary
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Attention to detail, with a highly organized approach to data/project management Knowledge of campus resources and how to direct students effectively
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to maintain constructive work relationships with student, graduate, and professional staff in HRE, Facilities, and Custodial Services
    • Recognize opportunities to provide feedback and improve processes and procedure
    • Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member
    Required Qualifications
    • Candidates must have a high school diploma and not enrolled in undergraduate classes at the University of Denver
    • A genuine interest in working with students, University staff, fraternal organizations, and their volunteers
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience as an FSL Property Manager or Similar.
    • C andidates possess a bachelor's degree and are enrolled in a graduate program
    • An individual with Fraternity and Sorority life experience of some kind
    • Interest, desire and/or experience in the field of student affairs, specifically, fraternity and sorority life
    • Previous experience working for an inter/national organization, or H ousing and R esidential E ducation .
    • Demonstrated commitment to embedding principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into job responsibilities
    Work Schedule

    Property Manager holds a 20 hour per week appointment with Housing & Residential Education and reports directly to the Housing Program Manager, and works in coordination with the assigned property's Housing Corporation.

    The duration of this position is from August 19, 2024, to June 20, 2025.

    Hourly Rate

    The hourly rate for this position is $18.29.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
