- Rapidly, accurately and professionally obtain potential donor information from referring hospitals and provide clinical information to processors for screening and tissue team for recovery process.
- Communicates effectively and conveys sensitive information with external stakeholders, referring or other procurement agencies.
- Manages donor referrals and conducts clinical screenings ensuring all relevant clinical information is documented accurately and screened appropriately.
- Reviews and interpret medical records to accurately determine donor suitability.
- Maintains working knowledge of tissue processor criteria and applicable industry standards.
- Assesses family dynamics and coordinates with hospital team a planned, compassionate family-focused donation discussion.
- Coordinates donation discussion process and offer opportunity to authorizing individual.
- Provides informed disclosure and authorization for appropriate donation options.
- Obtains accurate and complete donor medical/social history from authorizing individual/next-of-kin and other appropriate historians.
- Maintains an authorization rate based on department goals and individual work plan.
- Associate degree in biological sciences or allied health degree and/or two or more years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. LPN or EMT-P strongly preferred.
- Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. May be required to work for extended periods of time with few breaks.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively maneuver through Microsoft office systems and use a telephonic system.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.
- Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to function independently and collaboratively; good problem-solving and creative thinking skills and well-developed personal stress management skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
- Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
- Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information to donor families, hospital staff and transplant/procurement personnel in person or by phone.
- OSHA Category III No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
- Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
