    COVID-19 Impacts to Working at DOR

    DOR is closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 and ensuring our staff are supported in a safe work environment. While working on-site at any DOR facility, employees must follow current COVID-19 health orders issued by the California Department of Public Health or local health jurisdiction. DOR offers a hybrid work environment including in-office and remote work options for various positions.

    Under the general supervision of a Rehabilitation Supervisor, a Support Services Assistant – Interpreter performs the following: duties involvea wide range of interpreting for Rehabilitation Counselors for the Deaf or other deaf or hard of hearing staff members, when necessary. Activities include, but are not limited to: Interpreting professional meetings, telephone calls, one-on-one meetings with departmental staff or the general public, case staffing, training sessions, departmental operations, inter-departmental meetings, conferences and public events as needed by the department. May retrieve voice mail messages, return calls and assist with other communication needs of the employee. May interpret for staff members who have contact with deaf/hard of hearing consumers.

    Working Conditions

    Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 30 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.

  • The position(s) require(s) fluency in the American Sign Language language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
