Description
The Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) will define and execute our scientific research strategy, and development of the research platform. The CSO will be a critical decision maker in managing and prioritizing the Mural Oncology preclinical portfolio. In addition to setting the research strategy, the CSO will provide direction, mentor, evaluate, and build the research team.Reporting to and partnering with the CEO, this role will lead a team of talented research scientists in Cancer Biology, Protein Therapeutics, Analytical Development, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Formulation Development, Process Development and CMC Leadership for our Nemvaleukin alfa, IL-12 and IL-18 R&D programs.
The CSO will partner with the CEO in executing a broader vision focused on patients with unmet medical needs.Drive the development of the scientific strategy for the preclinical development of our cancer immunotherapy program, aligning it with the overall corporate objectives and therapeutic goals.
Oversee the design, planning, and execution of preclinical studies, including in vitro and in vivo experiments, to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and mechanism of action of drug candidates.
Develop collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in therapeutic areas of interest to establish foundational preclinical data sets providing new insights and pathways for therapeutic intervention.
Maintain partnerships with Contract Research OrganizationsRecruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of scientists, providing scientific expertise, professional development opportunities, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Highly accomplished scientific leader with expertise in oncology or immunology research.PhD (MD/PhD preferred), with 15+ years as academic faculty and/or Pharma/Biotech executive with drug development experience, including research and pharmaceutical development
Ability to mentor and grow scientific talent
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate between business leaders, scientists and medical professionals
that help showcase the technical and scientific expertise and dedication to patients.
