The Bentley University Office of Sustainability is an independent office within the university that reports through the President's Office. The Office of Sustainability achieves its objectives by modeling sustainable organizational operations and providing students with experiential learning opportunities.

The Office of Sustainability aims to set an example for sustainable business practices and prepare students for work in today's business world.

Essential Duties

Provide project management to essential Office of Sustainability programs including:

  • Leading the implementation and project management of Energy and Building Systems and Lifelong Learning and Engagement goals of Bentley's Sustainability Climate Action Plan.
  • Coleading the Student Sustainability Leadership program (57 student interns) which includes supervision and mentoring.
  • Partnering with Facilities Management to achieve Bentley's energy reduction and renewable energy goals. Including, leading the implementation of an electrification study completed in Spring 202
  • Giving guest lectures on sustainability topics in undergraduate and graduate classes and in other venues.
  • Chairing committees and facilitating meetings.
  • Coadvising the student group _Students for Sustainable Business._
  • Representing the Office of Sustainability in all capacities across campus.
The Manager of Sustainability will report to the Director of Sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in an environmental science, sustainability, sustainability and business, policy, ESG, behavior change or related field.
  • Two to four years of work experience in the fields listed above.
  • Excellent project management skills, the ability to manage multiple competing priorities (including budget and timeline) in a rapidly changing environment.
  • A passion for sustainability and _triplebottom line_ principles and have a strong desire to create change.
  • A track record of engaging others to act, with proven, measurable results.
  • Indepth understanding of the _triplebottom line_ and other sustainable business principles.
  • Enthusiasm about the opportunity for businesses to lead on sustainability issues (like climate change)
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • The ability to present information clearly, concisely, objectively and with a factbased approach.
  • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.
  • Experience planning events and coordinating people for a common goal.
  • Ability to work well in a fun, collaborative team environment, including at least three days per week on the Bentley campus, in a way that develops positive relationships across the university.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Work Environment:

  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work
  • Remote work possibility up to two days per week
  • Ability to travel around campus for meetings and other workrelated events and duties
  • Position will require some night and weekend responsibilities, approximately once monthly on average.
