    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    The College of Education seeks an Education Program Specialist (Advanced Professional) to oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the WorkLink program at Penn State University Park. The WorkLink program is a fully integrated, on-campus, non-residential 2-year certificate program, in WorkLink Strategies and Employability. The WorkLink program provides the opportunity for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) to participate in postsecondary experiences and education alongside their peers. This person will coordinate the WorkLink program including student supports, individual student schedules, volunteer mentors and tutors, and person-centered planning sessions. The Education Program Specialist will maintain contact with Penn State faculty instructing WorkLink students through audit courses to monitor progress and assess classroom support needs and will teach the WorkLink seminar and internship courses each semester. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising Penn State student employees and interns responsible for assisting WorkLink students with academic and social supports. The Education Program Specialist will assist in the recruitment, screening and selection of WorkLink students each year and will maintain cross campus and community relationships to sustain and grow the program.

    Required qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree is human services, special education, or similar degree
    • 3+ years working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities in transition settings
    • Knowledge of accommodation practices in education and work settings
    • Awareness of applicable laws and legislation related to disability in higher education and in the workplace
    • Knowledge of stakeholders and service providers at the county and state levels
    • Experience managing budgets
    • Effective communication skills (written, verbal), including effective and respectful communication with WorkLink students, parents, and supports
    Desirable qualifications:
    • Experience working in higher education settings
    • Experience with managing budgets
    • Knowledge of Think College Standards
    • Supervision experience
    • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
    • Experience with program management and development
    • Effective problem solver
    Appointment conditions:

    Revise according to 12 month contract / expectations

    The College of Education [] at Penn State was established in 1923 to deepen and extend knowledge about the formation and utilization of human capabilities.
