At the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections (DOC), our dentists deliver basic dental care to our inmate population with compassion and professionalism.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


In this role, you supervise the daily work of the institution's dental staff and are responsible for all aspects of the clinical dental services provided to the inmate population, including periodic examinations, diagnosing oral diseases, and treating injuries.

You also provide basic dental care and perform all dental treatment; assist specialists in the performance of treatment and related duties while on-site; and assure that adequate security, tool control, and Toxic and Caustic Control are carried out within the dental office.

In addition, you consult with and refer inmate patients to physicians, oral surgeons, and other health care professionals.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30minute lunch.
  • Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 5
  • Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.

Special Requirement:
  • You must possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.

Other Requirement:


  • PA residency requirement is currently
    waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:


  • You must pass a background investigation.
