    The mission of the Allen Institute for Immunology is to advance the fundamental understanding of human immunology through the study of immune health and diseases where excessive or impaired immune responses drive pathological processes. The Institute will employ a multi-disciplinary team approach in collaboration with academic centers of human immunology to generate novel mechanistic insights into the immune synapse in health and in diseases such as autoimmunity or oncology. The Institute will simultaneously provide a foundational data set and tools for future immunological research as well as a novel collaboration portal for the broader scientific community.

    We are seeking a Scientific Project Coordinator to join our team in supporting the mission and vision of gaining a deep understanding of the human immune system during health and disease. The Institute utilizes an Alliance Business Model, leveraging the strengths of multiple collaborators dedicated to common goals advancing science and solutions in Immunology. This position, reporting to the Associate Director of Alliance and Program Management, will support existing programs and projects in the areas of immune health, autoimmunity and oncology.

    Essential Functions

    • Serve as a Project Coordinator on the Immunology Program Management team
    • Assist with coordinating collaboration meetings involving internal and/or external attendees
    • Attend internal scientific project team meetings and interact with laboratory operations, scientists, investigators, and project managers to ensure progress towards project goals
    • Support cross-functional scientific programs, using project management best practices and tools, to achieve scientific deliverables in a timely manner
    • Create, maintain, and disseminate program and project deliverables and timelines
    • Contribute to fiscal management of collaborations and projects, including budget planning, resource forecasting, expenditure monitoring and reporting
    • Work closely with Allen Institute Finance, HR, Communications, and Legal to complete administrative tasks
    • Assist with preparation of progress and operational reports for quarterly reporting to the Institute leadership and Board of Directors
    • Create and maintain written and visual (graphical) representations of process workflows

    Required Education and Experience

    • 2 years of relevant operations experience, preferably in a scientific environment

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • A strong understanding of Immunology, molecular genetics, and the techniques to generate transcriptomic/epigenomic data
    • 2+ years of experience with software packages to organize and track documents and data (i.e., MS Suite, Google Workspace, Sharepoint, Smartsheet, JIRA)
    • 2+ years of experience tracking, managing, and analyzing data and metadata in an electronic database (e.g., LIMS)
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests and priorities
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams A team player and a natural leader with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to navigate challenging group dynamics, work effectively across scientific, technical, and business interfaces
    • Detail-focused and organized, with an understanding that communication and transparency are critical to achieving success
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively and with agility in a complex, matrixed environment, dealing well with ambiguity, building internal alignment, influencing others, and managing differences effectively
    • Ability to recognize cultural differences between industry and academia, and quickly identify and resolve conflicts
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools such as Smartsheet and/or JIRA a plus

    Physical Demands

    • Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment; repetitive motion with lab equipment

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    • This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment. We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.

    Annualized Salary Range

    • $58,950 - $82,550 *

    Final salary depends on the required education for the role, experience, level of skills relevant to the role, and work location, where applicable.
