NYC DOT seeks to hire a driven Data Application Manager to join the Data Operations, Systems, and Analytics (DOSA) unit.
We are the data specialists that ensure accuracy and efficiency for data analytics, data products, and insights that the agency relies on to accomplish its data driven mission and the applications the team manages to support this.
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of projects and processes to ensure alignment with the organizational needs, streamline dependencies, identify, and prioritize enhancements, work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop work plans, identify risks and integration opportunities, and develop methods to ensure accurate processes, reports and data products.
The Data Application Manager will oversee, plan, manage and coordinate complex information technology projects from initiation to completion, including defining project scope, creating/updating project plans and work breakdown structures, scheduling project deliverables, goals, and milestones, and ensuring ongoing maintenance and enhancements.
The selected candidate will provide day-to-day oversight and leadership of multidisciplinary project teams including those working on IT integration projects, analysts, and non-technical users.
This position will be responsible for ensuring data generated or analyzed in the projects are accurate and integrated into new and existing analytical and operational systems.
The Data Application Manager will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and overseeing the deployment of updates and enhancements to existing applications.
This role will be part of a dynamic team of data analysts and researchers that are responsible for informing the data driven inputs of Vision Zero and the general work of the Transportation Planning and Management division of NYC DOT.
Candidates should be proficient in SQL, with PostGIS experience preferable, have experience working in application development, management, and deployment. The ideal candidate should have proven experience working with large diverse datasets, data modeling and data integration. Python, GIS, statistical analysis abilities and data visualization skills are preferred. A successful candidate should have interest in transportation and the Vision Zero safety goals.The Department of Transportations (DOT) mission is to provide for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and to maintain and enhance the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of our primary customers, City residents.
The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City.
The Division's responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The Office of Research, Implementation & Safety (RIS) implements road safety street redesigns, programs and is also responsible for the management of DOT's crash data, conducts large-scale safety research projects, is lead on many agency action plans and is the key agency group for Vision Zero programs and policy.
This is an opportunity to work within RIS, a team dedicated to improving road safety and eliminating fatalities and serious injuries throughout New York City.
