    The Inside Account Manager
    • Value Added Services is responsible for generating revenue and gross margin for the company by developing and maintaining a strong customer base in the processing division of Steel and Pipe Supply.

    This position utilizes relationship-based selling techniques to meet the processed steel needs of each customer, while maximizing the profitability of the company.

    Other sales aspects include pricing, negotiation, nesting parts using specific software and maximizing material usage on each quote.

    The Inside Account Manager's responsibilities extend beyond sales and also include heavy amounts of order entry, order tracking, and problem resolution.

    The most successful Inside Account Managers take full ownership of their customers and orders and go the extra mile to ensure their customers are not just satisfied, but also informed throughout the entire sales process.


    Primary Responsibilities:


    Build customer relationships with new and existing accounts to maximize territory growthUnderstand each customer's needs, and accurately fulfill expectations for quality, delivery, paperwork, communication, etc.

    Configuration of processed parts using customer drawings and files and quoting using optimal material usage through nesting softwareAbility to plan and offer achievable delivery dates based on the specified production scheduleInterpret customer provided CAD prints and files for quoted parts/packagesExhibit mentality of problem-solving that helps uncover solutions to customer needsPrice inquiries in a manner which maximizes revenues , with consideration to minimizing operational costsUnderstand return on invested capital (ROTC), and exhibit decision making abilities which align with the goals of the companyDevelop an in-depth understanding of the machines, steel products and services offered by SPSEngage Outside Account Managers and sales management on significant inquiriesto help maximize the probability of successMonitor the overall goals and results of the territory, and the entire company on a regular basisProvide feedback related to the market conditions of the territoryCooperate with teammates both within, and outside the Sales Dept.

    Assist other account managers with their daily activities when neededPhysical & Work Requirements:
    Ensure professional appearance appropriate for meetings with executive level employees or clientsRequires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time at a computerLimited travel (~3 to 4 times per year)

    Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:
    Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings/printsTremendous drive for resultsHighly proactive and takes great initiative; proven self-starter; goes the extra mileStrong customer orientation with proven relationship building skillsTremendous responsibility and ownership of customer challengesDiligently and consistently demonstrates an ownership mentalityProficient in utilizing required software applications (SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.)

    Strong written and oral communication skillsStrong cooperation and collaboration skillsComposureComfortable with negotiationHighly detail-oriented and very thoroughStrong numerical abilitiesExcellent organization skillsHigh learning agilityPreferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:
    Proven experience in a role responsible for managing the needs of customersKnowledge of general principals of business related to revenue generation, cost impacts and bottom-line resultsBackground in the steel industry or a related fieldBachelor's degree in Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent work experience
