    Position Summary


    Under general supervision, this position provides complex administrative and technical assistance under the direction of the Chief of Staff, Office of Attorney General (OAG).

    The position is responsible for program and administrative support services for the overall agency requiring a high degree of sound judgment, the ability to make independent decisions and application of various work methods.

    The position participates with management team members in the assessment of administrative efficiencies; manages the agency correspondence system, assessing to determine program enhancements; controlled correspondence and functions as the key contact in a variety of agency functions and activities.

    In addition, the position will be responsible for coordinating and preparing for the Attorney General's speaking engagements and communicating with external entities on their scheduling requests.


    This position has contact with legislators, other public officials, division administrators, other state agencies, local officials, community leaders, and the public.

    Salary Information

    The Operations Program Associate position is in pay schedule 02 and pay range 11. The starting pay will be $21.23/hour. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

    Job Details

    This position is required to report in person to headquarters daily. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement.

    The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment.

    All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

    A background check, including fingerprints, will be completed on applicants prior to selection.

    Qualifications

    Minimally qualified applicants must have education, training and/or experience in the following:


    • Providing administrative support to a team (e.g., preparing correspondence, answering the phone, collecting and sorting mail, organizing paper and electronic files, maintaining a tracking system)
    • Managing calendars for others (e.g., scheduling meetings, appointments, or travel)
    • Writing communications, proofreading, editing, and finalizing materials
    • Advanced computer skills using a variety of different programs which could include: Outlook calendars, Word, Excel, a mass email platform
    In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have education, training, and/or experience in the following:


    • Working with sensitive/confidential information and/or documentation
    • Providing service to customers or the public
    • Training others on a new procedure or software
    • Writing, reviewing, and/or editing reports, memos, or presentations containing quantitative information
    • Using written communication to respond to internal or external customers with complex inquiries/questions
    • Using a database that includes entering data and creating data reports
