    PURPOSE:


    Supports the Utilization Management clinical teams by assisting with non-clinical administrative tasks and responsibilities related to precertification, pre-service, utilization review, care coordination and quality of care.

    We are looking for an experienced professional to work remotely from within the greater Baltimore metropolitan, D.C. and/or Northern VA region. The incumbent will be expected to come into a CareFirst location periodically for meetings, training and/or other business-related activities.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Call-center (PreCert) intake associate performing provider related administrative support which includes benefit verification, authorization creation and management, provider escalations and case documentation.
    • Reviews authorization requests for initial determination and/or triages for clinical review and resolution.
    • Provides general support and coordination services for the department including but not limited to answering and responding to provider inquiries, electronic faxes and correspondence, researching information and problem solving.
    • Assists with reporting, data tracking, gathering, organization and dissemination of information such as Continuity of Care process and initiation of Out of Country requests.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education Level:
    High School Diploma or GED.

    Experience: 3 years' experience in health care call-center/service areas or medical office support.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Two years experience in health care/managed care setting or previous work experience within division.
    • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)


    • Ability to effectively participate in a multi-disciplinary team including internal and external participants.
    • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and concepts used in managed care.
    • Knowledge of standardized processes and procedures for evaluating medical support operations business practices.
    • Excellent independent judgment and decision-making skills, consistently demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
    • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
    • Experienced in the use of web-based technology and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
    • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

    Salary Range:
    $34,056 - $62,436

    This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration.

    It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case's facts and circumstances, including but not limited to experience, internal equity, and location.
