The Center for Educational Outreach (CEO) within the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University will have significant impact on the future science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workforce by increasing the number of STEM leaders from underrepresented groups.

Our mission is to engage JHU faculty and students to inspire and prepare PK-12 students in STEM education and careers.

CEO is the resource for Johns Hopkins University STEM faculty and students looking to do STEM educational outreach for PK-12 students or teachers.

The Math Acceleration Tutoring with Hopkins (MATH) Program is a program that launched in Fall 2022 in collaboration with the University's President's Office at Elmer A


Henderson:
A Johns Hopkins Partnership School (Henderson Hopkins) with plans to expand to other schools in the future.

We are seeking a
_MATH Program Site Coordinator _who will report to the Whiting School of Engineering's Center for Educational Outreach's MATH Program Administrator.

The MATH Program Site Coordinator will be based on-site at Henderson Hopkins with meetings and trainings at the CEO's office as needed.

_This position is a full-time position, funded for one year and is eligible for renewal as budget allows._


The MATH Program Site Coordinator will work full time on implementing the MATH Program at one Baltimore City Public School site (Henderson Hopkins) to increase the students' proficiency, interest, and self-efficacy in math.

The MATH Program Site Coordinator's duties include tutor recruitment, hiring and training, program coordination and implementation, and continuous collaboration with the program management team and school-based staff to ensure success of the MATH Program.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administrative & Supervisory Tasks_
  • Collaborate with the MATH Program Administrator to identify and hire 60+ tutors and lead tutors and facilitate onboarding process.
  • Manage 60+ tutors and lead tutors at their assigned school site (Henderson Hopkins), which includes training (preservice and ongoing), supervision, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Create and maintain tutoring schedule each semester (with schoolbased staff and MATH Program Administrator input).
  • Collaborate with MATH Program Administrator to facilitate weekly meetings with lead tutors.
  • Attend schoolbased math instructional team meetings regularly.
  • If needed, assist schoolbased staff with identifying the location and materials (including technology) necessary for tutoring sessions.
  • Collaborate with MATH Program Administrator to run Professional Development with tutors.
  • Manage regular communications to tutors regarding program schedules and expectations.
  • Serve as main point of contact at the school for the MATH Program.
  • Regularly communicate with school staff (administration and math teachers) and parent/guardians.
  • Report weekly summaries of program performance to the MATH Program Administrator.
  • Organize and maintain excellent records of program implementation and collection of weekly engagement data to support program evaluation and grant reporting.
  • Manage weekly payroll for 60+ tutors using daily attendance records from lead tutors.
  • Onsite Tasks_
  • Provide daily oversight, feedback, and coaching to ensure program success, including but not limited to,
  • Organize and maintain tutoring materials (laptops, printouts, math manipulatives, bins of dry erase boards, markers, etc.)
  • Go to classrooms to get students for sessions.
  • Monitor student behavior.
  • Supervise and manage lead tutors on the following tasks during sessions.
  • Monitor tutor arrival times and attendance.
  • Monitor and respond to internal tutor communications on Slack.
  • Coordinate daily tutor rideshare transportation to/from school.
  • Monitor student attendance at sessions.
  • Support substitute tutors, as needed.
  • Escalate student issues (attendance, behavior, academic) as needed to schoolbased staff.
  • Set and model program expectations for tutors and participating students.
  • Provide timely feedback, with support of lead tutors, to all tutors on session and curriculum implementation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with tutors, schoolbased staff, including administrative staff, teachers, and tutees.
  • Coordinate with the school to access and use assessment data to inform the development of sessions and evaluation reporting.
