    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Position Summary

    The Laboratory Coordinator's primary responsibility is to work in the clinical laboratory, processing and analyzing samples, and maintaining the laboratory in inspection-ready condition. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, performing laboratory procedures to produce accurate and consistent laboratory results including running daily assays, processing and evaluating samples, cryopreserving client depositor patient samples, and performing any laboratory procedure as directed by the laboratory director. This position must have thorough knowledge and understanding of quality control and quality assurance procedures. Rotating weekends and holiday coverage is required.

    Responsibilities

    * Cryoinventory Duties
    * Manage the discard of fresh and cryopreserved specimens in accordance with patient consent/ request forms and internal protocol.
    * Manage the transport of specimens to and from other laboratories.
    * Update, maintain, and verify cryo-inventory logs for all stored specimens including embryos, eggs, and sperm.
    * Maintain storage tanks filled with liquid nitrogen.
    * Work alongside the leadership team to manage specimens donated to research.
    * Identify and track specimens that have been 'abandoned' due to non-payment of storage and initiate procedures for the disposition of these specimens.

    * Other Duties
    * Train under direct supervision to perform embryology clinical laboratory tasks, including the following.
    * Performing set-up tasks to prepare for treatments using aseptic techniques: preparing culture dishes for egg retrievals, insemination, cryopreservation, warming, embryo culture, and embryo transfer procedures.
    * Perform specimen chain of custody, documentation, and witness procedures, as needed.
    * Facilitating pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) by managing PGT requisitions, preparing PGT documentation, packing and shipping PGT kits, and entering PGT results into the electronic health records system and cryopreservation logs.
    * Providing administrative and operational support for the Cryo-Preservation Coordinator by filing cryo-inventory logs; entering donor egg bank data into EMR; creating embryo cryopreservation labels; and performing embryo storage tank (LN2) monitoring and maintenance for quality control, as a backup to the Cryopreservation Coordinator.
    * Ordering and rotating the gas tanks for the embryo culture system.
    * Perform weekly or biweekly inventory tracking of culture media and consumables.
    * Contribute to the accurate documentation of patient and procedure data: collect patient data, prepare patient charts and embryology worksheets; enter procedure data into the electronic medical records (EMR) and report laboratory results.
    * Maintain the lab through daily cleaning, clerical support, and inventory management such as delivering, unpacking, restocking, rotating, and organizing supplies, to ensure that the overall condition of the laboratory is clean and safe according to regulatory and department standards.
    * Notify management when supplies are low and need restocking and escalate any issues as appropriate.
    * Perform laboratory maintenance tasks such as equipment maintenance, sterilization, quality assurance, quality control, and safety procedures.
    * Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual quality control on assigned [equipment], including incubator pH, maintain logbook with equipment performance data, and report values outside of tolerance range. Maintain accurate and complete embryology QC forms and notify supervisor of any values outside of working range.
    * Apply safety protocols, including hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment.
    * Reports incidents to Supervisor, Director of Embryology and Laboratory Director.
    * Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff in a courteous, helpful, professional, and ethical manner.
    * Other duties as assigned within professional scope of practice/training/education.

    * Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA requirements at all times.
    * Keep current on all organizational, department, and patient privacy policies (e.g., infection control, HIPAA) and required trainings.
    * Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

    Minimum Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
    * Must be resourceful, well-organized, and detail-oriented.
    * Able to work independently and have excellent computer skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    * Two years of experience in a laboratory setting.
    * Licensed as a clinical laboratory technologist in the state of New York.
    * Prior experience in a fertility clinic.
