Position Summary


Responsibilities:


  • Executing experiments following protocols and achieving repeatable results (excellent handson lab and pipetting skills).
  • Compiling and maintaining accurate research records and presenting data in group settings.
  • Building their scientific knowledge by reading relevant articles and attending seminars.
  • Demonstrating initiative in executing tasks, occasionally solving problems, and implementing laboratory procedures.
  • Organizing time and planning specifics of project related work with oversight from supervisor.
  • Collaborating with faculty and senior lab members in the performance and analysis of experiments.
  • Coordinating pickup and delivery of biospecimens among laboratories.
  • Keeping records of samples; receiving, using, and sending out to other laboratories.
  • Working under sterile contained conditions for processing of human biospecimens, including blood, Cerebrospinal fluid, and tissue.
  • Performing Western blots, protein quantification (BCA, Bradford) assays, Immunoprecipitations assays, among other techniques.
  • Conducting biomarker assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, Simoa, etc.).
  • Developing, optimizing, validating and troubleshooting of new biomarker assays under the supervision and guidance of the Principal Investigator.
  • Willing to learn new techniques to achieve the overall goal of the project.
  • Working with mice (having experience and/or willing to learn colony management, IP injections, etc ).
  • Maintaining laboratory supplies, preparing solutions, and performing other related duties necessary to the wellfunctioning of the laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and some related experience or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry or Life Sciences, or equivalent education, with some laboratory experience.
  • Experience as a fulltime Technician B in an industrial/academic setting.
  • Preferred prior experience includes ELISA development and optimization, assay protocol optimization and validation (or similar technique).
  • Experience in the following areas is a plus: conjugation chemistry, e.g. conjugating antibodies to solid surfaces (microbeads), biotinylating, process improvement techniques.
  • Experience in blood, Cerebrospinal fluid, and tissue processing is preferred.
  • Exhibit initiative, work independently, and be technically proficient in the processes assigned to them.
  • Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to effectively keep records, plan, and organize work activities to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets and/or database software, including Excel and SPPS.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design.
