About the position:

A very exciting opportunity is now available for a Laboratory Assistant who will work with our Andrology and Endocrinology team.

The ideal applicant should be highly motivated and organized, demonstrate effective communication (oral and written), have excellent time management, and be able to adapt to fast-paced environment.

Schedule:
Consecutive weekends: Saturday and Sundays 7 am - 12 pm. Monday and Friday 7 am - 3 pm. Additional hours may be available.


Temporary 3 month position

Responsibilities include the following:

• To read and follow laboratory Standard Operation Procedure Manual
• To know and comply with regulatory guidelines for clinical laboratories
• To rotate as part of the intake team
• To assist in keeping the laboratories in inspection ready state
• To assist in preparation of patient charts and data collection, recording and reporting of laboratory results; knowledge of the electronic medical records
• Maintaining laboratory inventory, ordering consumables and equipment
• Conforms to applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines
• Responsible for training under direct supervision in:
• Sterile technique, labeling plastic-ware, culture dishes
• Monitoring and filling liquid Nitrogen tanks on a weekly basis
• Performing daily, weekly, monthly and annual quality control on the laboratory
• Assist the laboratory team with intake and release of cryopreserved samples
• Assist laboratory team with intake of fresh specimens
• Performing inventory control, ordering, restocking supplies, delivering and unpacking supplies and linens
• May be trained in IUI and cryopreservation as assigned by the Andrology Supervisor
• Witnessing procedures and maintaining chain of custody of samples
• Perform data entry of procedures into the EMR and other databases

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• 1 year Health Care Experience
• Strong Detailed orientation and organizational and problem solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently with consistent followthrough.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills including a service orientation.
• Ability to interact positively and constructively with patients, visitors, and colleagues demonstrating tact, empathy, and respect.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in biological science
• Fertility experience
• Medical Records experience
