Manager, HRBP
for our DC Bureau who takes a strategic approach and serves as an expert consultant to business leaders and their teams on all talent matters, including DE&I, organizational effectiveness, leader effectiveness, change management, organizational design and learning opportunities.
As a
Manager, HRBP,
you would be responsible for developing strong relationships with your ABC News client groups and delivering integrated and inclusive HR partnership in areas such as: DE&I and Culture, Strategy Development, Organization Design, Talent Management, Organization & Employee Effectiveness, Change & Transition Management, and Functional HR Integration.
This role will be a one-year internal assignment or project hire.
What You Will Do
Every day as a Manager, HRBP is different On any given day, you might:
Establish and maintain an intimate understanding of your clients' organizations and the business, in the interest of building effective and productive working relationships with internal partners and clients, at all levels of the organization.
Be a culture carrier for the DC Bureau.
Plan, lead and support organization design projects to streamline and implement new structures, roles and/or processes that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands.
Coach business leaders on HR policies and processes, including talent planning, learning and development, and performance management to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development.
Assess organizational performance systemically, defining talent gaps and proposing HR solutions that support client business goals.
Coach business leaders on key organizational and management issues.
Plan and facilitate work sessions to develop business strategies (i.e. vision, mission, value, objectives) that help support organizational focus, efficiency, speed, and business results.
Develop and drive a lifecycle approach to talent management focused on forecasting, staffing, on-boarding, development, performance management, career / succession planning, talent movement and retention, using rigorous people analytics and insights.
Develop thoughtful, integrated approaches to promote diversity and inclusion in talent attraction, development, and retention.
Assess employee training and development needs based on business strategy in order to help close gaps between current and future skills.
Ability to develop other professionals and encourage strategic partnerships
Think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items.
Ability to adapt and tailor communication style for your audience
A flexible way of thinking, able to navigate company processes and practices to find solutions for unique business problems
Demonstrates an effective consultative approach to build awareness on key organizational issues and consensus for relevant solutions; able to guide partners to build commitment to drive org improvement and change
Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective.

Required Qualifications & Skills
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a professional role in an ever-changing environment, with specific experience in strategy development (preferred), organizational design, talent management and change management.
Demonstrated experience influencing executives (e.g. VP/Director)Experience working with executives in an "influence-without-authority" role.
Previous experience managing multiple client groups and prioritizing associated projects in a fast-paced and high-volume, complex environment
Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.
Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner (builds relationships, delivers results).
Equally adept at advising, thinking strategically and execution. Exhibits a roll-up your sleeves attitude
Demonstrated experience and ability to balance business partnering skills with employee advocacy.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an HRBP directly supporting clients in union and non-union environments
Project Management experience
Advanced data and analytics capabilities, including strong Microsoft Excel skills
Experience working in a large, corporate, matrixed environment
Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a business-related field
The hiring range for this position in Washington, DC is $135,000 to $165,000 per year.
The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
