    JOB SUMMARY
    Our Building Plan Review Department is currently hiring a

    Senior Plans Examiner.

    This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Sacramento, CA office.

    The Senior Plans Examiner position involves working five days a week (Monday - Friday) between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm.

    We will consider someone for a 40 or 32 hour per week schedule. In this role you will review commercial, residential, and industrial project plans. Have a thorough knowledge of construction in section and plan review protocols, policies, and procedures.


    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Strong understanding of California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.

    Ability to read and interpret maps, construction diagrams, plans, blueprints and specifications and evaluate them for compliance with governing codes and standards.

    Exhibit sound judgement in providing expert code interpretation.
    Ability to suggest alternate forms of compliance with codes and ordinances.
    Prepare and present effective oral and written reports.
    Represent the department at internal and external meetings.
    Current on legal and technical developments pertaining to building construction and codes.
    Mentor and train plans examiners.
    Perform other related duties as required.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    5 to 10 years of industry experience, including 5 years reviewing plans for conformance to model codes.
    BS in Engineering or related field of equivalent work experience is desirable.

    Must possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certified Plans Examiner Certification or obtain it within six months of the date of hire.

    Strong computer skills.
    Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with everyone regardless of level of technical expertise.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Work independently or in a team environment.
    General office environment with the opportunity for hybrid schedule from home as well.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    Ability to be flexible and overcome obstacles to complete tasks.
    Regularly requires working in sitting position with computer for extended periods.
    Ability to travel to client job sites.

    The compensation for this position is $ $63.00 per hour.
    Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
