    The Vice President, Finance for the Greenwich Hospital Delivery Network (GDN), reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of the Yale New Haven Health System and serves as the financial leader for the Greenwich DN. The Vice President, Finance will be part of both the YNHH leadership team and the YNHHS finance leadership team. The Vice President, Finance partners with the YNHH COO and President, focusing on supporting operations and strategy. In partnership with the DN leaders, the role works to develop, implement, and manage strategies to ensure ongoing financial success. Along with other leaders, this role is responsible for monitoring, developing, and reporting action plans for budget variances, including detail areas such as labor productivity. The VP coordinates and leads the development of business plans aligned with system strategies and capital investments while working with Integrated Financial Services to develop operational financial analyses for utilization with the Greenwich DN Leadership team to enable continual operational improvements and monitoring of actions. Additionally, this VP, Finance is responsible for coordinating the budget and operational improvement plans for YNHH and owns accountability for owning the financial integrity and health of the DN.

    Responsibilities:
    • Functions as the Delivery Network (DN) finance leader, providing strategic input and guidance to the DN senior leadership team by:
    • Participating in leadership meetings, including but not limited to:
      • YNHH Board of Trustees
      • YNHH Finance Committee meetings (Joint DN Finance Committee)
      • Senior Leadership
      • Manager meetings
      • Medical Center Operations Group
      • Delivery Network Operating Reviews
    • Leads and participates in the ongoing development of system finance team members.
    • Plays a key role in the system financial turnaround and the local turnaround at the Greenwich Delivery Network.
    • Educates and advances the leadership teams understanding of the financial information and how to utilize it most effectively in making operational decisions.
    • Review of the monthly financial statement close process and provides important financial information that may impact financial reporting. Coordinates with the operational and financial reporting teams to ensure YNHH leadership understands the results and areas requiring focus.
    • Through the systems corporate finance structure, provides financial reporting to leadership.
    • Reviews budget to actual variances with DN leadership and assists in action plan development to get back to target. Assists in removing barriers to achievement.
    • Collaborates with IFS to ensure appropriate financial support for YNHH clinical leadership.
    • Provides financial leadership to the DN vacancy review process and FTE management.
    • Works with the System Business Office (SBO) to support DN initiatives around patient billing, collection and other functions of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM).
    • Works with System finance leadership to coordinate the annual Operating budget, including financial leadership for Strengthening our CORE strategies at DN.
    • Coordinates with capital workgroups to ensure replacement needs are identified for minor and major projects.
    • Partners with delivery network leadership and coordinates with IFS to ensure Business plans are prepared consistent with the Enterprise Business Plan Council guidelines, which includes FTE and Strategic capital needs.
    • Directs and coordinates the formation of financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments and to increase productivity.
    • Develops a thorough understanding of the funds flow model. Lead/participates in the development of business plans which include defining the physicians role at the Hospital and YSM and determining the Systems resources required to successfully support the physician.
    • Works with Aligned Clinical Enterprise leaders as a finance liaison for DN.
    • Establish a culture, identity and sense of team that fosters exceptional service, creative problem solving and collaboration. Maintains a visible presence within the departments and throughout YNHH. Serves on various YNHH, Health System and YSM committees.
    • Leads standardization implementation and other System-sponsored initiatives, as requested.
    • Exercise good judgment and effectively manage relationships and clearly define goals and expectations agreed upon by all stakeholders.
    • In all matters conducts oneself in accordance with Yale New Haven Health System's core values, including YNHHS success factors and Standards of Professional Conduct. Adheres to the YNHHS Finance Divisions mission, vision, and values.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in finance or related field required; MBA or MPH strongly preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Ten years of progressive leadership experience in Finance; preferably in an integrated delivery system or a community teaching hospital setting with strong market competition.
    • In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, budget management principles and practices relative to healthcare institutions, enhanced business practices, integrated business management principles and practices, generally accepted accounting principles, and financial reporting processes and procedures.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of State and Federal financial laws, regulations and operating guidelines.
    • Knowledge of the Health System operations, YNHHS service lines and operating departments outside the finance organization.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build and work effectively in a collaborative team environment with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse Ability to lead by influence as opposed to direct reporting.
    • Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
    • Demonstrated organizational management skills. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, developing and implementing new strategies and procedures and in defining, lead and managing change.
    • Skill in the use of computers and software applications to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons and/or projections.
    • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and serve as a teacher and developer of other leaders in how to utilize financial information most effectively.
    • Establish internal credibility with Senior Management and peer leader, understand day-to-day operations and add value to establishing business targets and measures, prioritize reporting and analysis objectives and provide discipline to the implementation and porting process.
    • Compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex financial reports, statements and /or projections.
    • Lead, supervise and train employees including mentoring and coaching employees.
    • Excellent administrative, managerial, technical, fiscal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with various constituencies including physicians, and executive leadership both within the Yale New Haven Health System and the Yale School of Medicine, NEMG and within the physician community.
    • Excellent negotiation skills, the ability to effectively and persuasively package and communicate the vision and values of YNHHS.
    • Provides leadership from a position of engagement, collaboration and teamwork, influence and trust, a sense of accountability and urgency and the ability to execute with a high level of personal integrity.
