    Description
    Position Summary:

    Provides engineering support to the VP Business Development. Understands and applies first principles, concepts, practices and standards, with a full and competent knowledge of engineering, industry, and company practices. Familiar with the design, development, and manufacture of aerospace vehicles and/or Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS). Leads pursuits and proposal efforts required to capture business from new customers and markets, and sometimes from existing customers and markets. Often supports new business pursuits that are led by other Paragon personnel. Interfaces directly with customers and represents Paragon at technical and professional meetings. Consults and provides advice to the Director of Advanced Concepts and Business Development and delegates regarding systems design of vehicles, subsystems, and components.

    Description of Duties:
    • Lead customer pursuits
    • Lead new market pursuits
    • Lead specific proposal efforts
    • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
    • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
    • Develop solutions to a variety of complex system and ECLSS problems
    • Make design recommendations and set baselines based on trade studies, analyses, and design reviews
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and records on project activities, progress, status or other special reports for internal and external customers
    • Provide technical advice and problem solving assistance to staff
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following discipline areas: Aerospace Vehicle Systems, ECLSS, Crew Systems, Crew Cabin design, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Thermal Systems
    • Knowledge and experience on systems, subsystems, and components related to project/program from requirements definition to build and test.
    • Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures
    • Knowledge and experience in Systems Engineering and Integration
    • Knowledge of proposal process
    • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting for proposals
    • Skilled in applying engineering principles and procedures
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, MS Project)
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
    • Ability to work independently once a task has been assigned
    • Ability to effectively communicate in both spoken and written form
    • Ability to quickly evaluate Junior Engineer's designs and concepts and provide expert advice that will enhance the resulting designs
    • Ability to serve as project lead with guidance from the Director of Advanced Concepts and Business Development
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness; have discriminating judgment, tact and, sense of humor
    • Desired (but not required) Skills: Skilled in CAD applications
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Bio-mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and at least 5 years of experience with system and /or hardware design experience in the aerospace industry OR
    • Desired: Master's degree in Mechanical, Bio-mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and at least 4 years of experience with system and /or hardware design experience in the aerospace industry OR
    • Desired: PhD degree in Mechanical, Bio-mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and at least 2 years of experience with system and /or hardware design experience in the aerospace industry.
