Job Summary:


The Systems Effectors:

Processing, Guidance & Control Center is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO-IR) Signal Processing; missile-and-sensor-level Modeling and Simulation; as well as flight test prediction and performance analysis for Raytheon's broad portfolio of projects, programs, and products.

In the GNC department, we design, integrate, and optimize guidance, navigation, state estimation, and control algorithms to meet mission objectives.

We support new business initiatives and help develop & execute technology roadmaps. We support flight test preparations, execution, and evaluation.


The GNC Department is seeking a
Senior GNC Engineer to perform in the role of
Federated Simulation Integration Lead. This position is located in our
Tucson, AZ location.


This position is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:


  • As the
    Federated Simulation Integration Lead you will be responsible for implementing interfaces that allow the family of Program simulation to interact within a broader, federated, simulation environment.
  • You will understand the federated interface and environment including timing requirements, sources & quality of input data, destination of output data, computer environment requirements for the simulation and federation, etc.
  • You will integrate the federated interface into the Program simulation implementation of the federated interface and unit/functional testing to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • You will integrate the newlyfederation capable missile simulation into the Customer's federated simulation environment. This is completed after the missile simulation has been unit/function tested to ensure compliance with the interface requirements.
  • You will provide longterm support of missile operation in the federated environment. This requires analysis to explain missile behavior across a wide range of scenarios, mission areas, and threat space.
  • You will leverage exceptional communication and collaboration skills as this role works with many different teams for each simulation that the interface needs to be integrated into.
  • You will offer experience and guidance to program personnel, many of whom have no experience with federated interfaces and will be expected to help the program understand the importance of maintaining and testing the federated interface while their simulation team continues to mature and maintain the missile simulation.
  • You will meet with and present the results from the simulation leading up to the federated integration to the Customer and internal RTX Program team. These are high visibility meetings requiring the engineer to display exceptional presentation skills and the ability to properly represent RTX.
  • You will be entrusted to travel to support integration at Customer facilities. (Anticipate a 1 week trip, every other month around 6 trips per year)

Basic Qualifications:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of Guidance, Navigation and/or Controls related engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience working development or production activities within the NSMS portfolio.
  • Experience with simulation development and system performance.
  • Experience with requirements verification in the simulation environment.
  • Experience with Matlab, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with Unix and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Experience supporting activities such as formal qualification testing, ensuring compliance to performance metrics prior to software release, etc.
  • Experience supporting missile development efforts, providing system performance analysis.
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate activities across multiple facilities and locations.
  • Resultsoriented work ethic and able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diver
