    The California-China Climate Institute (CCCI) is seeking to hire a Research Director to lead its climate policy research activities and strategies.

    UC Berkeley's California-China Climate Institute (CCCI) is a research institute in the Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment (CLEE) at Berkeley Law. Former California Governor Jerry Brown chairs the Institute in partnership with Xie Zhenhua, China's Special Representative for Climate Change Affairs. The Institute receives guidance and support from expert policy and operations staff, business, academic and climate advisory committees and a governing board of top university and government officials. The Institute also works closely with other UC campuses, departments and leaders. Launched in September 2019, this groundbreaking initiative was established to spur further climate action through joint research, training and dialogue in California and China, with the goal of informing national policy makers and promoting the implementation of climate solutions at all levels.

    • Lead CCCI's research projects, including:
      • Identifying research opportunities and priorities for the institute;
      • Drafting research proposals and managing the planning and execution of research projects, and oversight of research fellow activities;
      • Working with research fellows and student researchers to support and track research progress; and
      • Supporting research fellow mentorship and professional development
    • Collaborate with the CCCI Director and the institute's broader network to identify research needs and priorities, including developing research concepts and fundraising proposals;
    • Report to the CCCI Research Advisory Committee regularly regarding key research updates and developments;
    • Work with research collaborators to develop and disseminate CCCI's research findings and work products, including drafting research articles, op-eds and blog posts; materials for the CCCI website; contributing to newsletters, annual reports, and other organizational materials.
    • Represent CCCI in domestic and international policy engagements, including government to government exchanges and delegation visits.
    • Partner with other academic units, research organizations, and other collaborators to complete research tasks.
    • Lead evaluation and distribution of CCCI research grants to academic partners.
