    The Arc of King County serves all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the lifespan: from prenatal diagnosis through end-of-life care.     POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Healthy Relationships Coordinator, as part of the Information and Family Support Team, implements the Healthy Relationships program. This program provides people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), their families, and the community specialized habilitation services, information, education, and outreach regarding sex, sexuality, safety, and positive interpersonal relationships. This position supports the agency's efforts to remove barriers to social, economic, and political participation and promote the inclusion of people with I/DD.

    Supervisor: Information and Family Support Program Manager

    Other key relationships: Information & Resource Team, Housing Stability Team, Parent to Parent Program, Multicultural Family Support Team, Advocacy Team, Supported Living Program.

    DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION


    • Directly serves between 5-10 Specialized Habilitation clients contracted with DSHS/DDA, including session planning and record keeping, on topics related to dating, sex, sexuality, internet safety and social skills.


    • Develops and maintains relevant, comprehensive, scientifically accurate, and accessible Healthy Relationships curriculum and resources for people of all ages with I/DD, which honors and respects the diversity of experience including race, religion, gender identity, sexuality, etc. Curriculum includes knowledge and skills about consent, boundaries, trust, choice, autonomy, disability identity, privacy, genitals, sex, sexuality, abuse, online safety, and all forms of interpersonal relationships.


    • Conducts Healthy Relationships program outreach and registration for Healthy Relationships workshops.


    • Teaches the Healthy Relationships curriculum to people of all ages with IDD throughout King County, and trains educators to teach the curriculum themselves.


    • Trains, mentors and supports new and/or less experienced Arc of King County staff as needed.


    • Supports parents, caregivers and other professionals to build their capacity to support people with disabilities' learning across time and environments.


    • Makes program activities accessible to different cultural communities in terms of disability, language, culture, location, and other cultural issues through utilizing The Arc's diverse staff team, and/or interpreters (over the phone or in person).


    • Attends and hosts resource fairs, presentations, and educational workshops where information about The Arc and IDD resources are shared.


    • Ensures program documentation and promotional materials are up to date. Including on- going timely, accurate Salesforce data entry.


    • Partners with the Public Policy and Civic Engagement Team to create programs, share educational resources and civic engagement opportunities for issues related to sex, sexuality, safety, and positive interpersonal relationships.


    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Maintains timely and thorough documentation. Such as:

    o Meets biweekly deadline to submit timesheet

    o Meets monthly deadline to log cases and events in Salesforce.

    o Maintains an up-to-date Outlook calendar.


    • Collaborates with co-workers when asked. Such as:

    o Regularly attends staff or team meetings.


    • Self-starter: Able to independently identify what needs to be done and does it to completion


    • Time management: Uses time wisely to complete tasks in a timely manner


    • Professional growth: Shows willingness to learn and apply new skills. Such as:

    o Corrects action when coached on performance.

    o Evaluates activities for effectiveness.

    o Attends professional development opportunities.


    • Personal relations: Is flexible and courteous with clients/participants; empathetic while keeping professional boundaries. Such as:

    o Listens attentively.

    o Follows through in a timely manner.

    o Is supportive and helpful.


    • Reliability: Can be counted on to complete job duties. Does not leave team waiting for deliverables.


    • Ability to travel frequently throughout King County for community work, events, meetings and classes.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    A minimum of one year experience working with individuals who experience a developmental or intellectual disability for stabilization services. Must include supporting individuals with IDD who are experiencing crisis or destabilized behaviors.

    Must be a Life Skills Coach with current and valid certification, or have a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree in the field of psychology, sociology, social work, education, child development, gerontology, recreational therapy, nursing or other related field , or be part of a relevant University internship program.

    Preferred experience in the field of sex and health education.

    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds

    An understanding of concepts around anti-racism and social justice, and their intersection with the disability community.

    Ability to learn about I/DD and community resources through experience, on-the-job training, and other professional development opportunities and relay that information to individuals with I/DD and their families

    Ability to learn and implement State of Washington Mandatory Reporting requirements

    Demonstrated ability to respond to emails and complete tasks in a timely manner.

    Clear, compassionate, effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to be self-directed and work as a team member

    Ability to persevere in the face of obstacles

    Experience in using MS Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and able to learn and use other required technology

    Knowledge of Salesforce database systems a plus but not required.

    OR a combination of education, experience and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of this position.

    PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to pass a criminal background check

    Ability to use email and internet with ease

    Work hours typically occur between 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Monday-Friday with some flexibility

    Requires some evening and weekend work with advanced notice

    Ability to go out into the community to attend events, meet with clients and other activities.

    Ability to travel throughout King County with ease.

    HOURS/SALARY/BENEFITS

    This is a full time, exempt position.

    This position is eligible for The Arc's employee benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(K), EAP, Orca card, paid holidays, paid personal leave, and more.

    Hourly Wage: $23-25
