    Posting Summary:
    The Program Manager, in conjunction with faculty members who serve as Program Directors, is responsible for the administrative management of the programs in Education Policy, Politics and Education, and History and Education. This entails continuous communication with the Program Directors and involvement in all aspects of the program including admissions, marketing, recruiting, academic advising, faculty hiring, program management, and financial oversight. This position reports to the Director of Academic Administration.

    Job Summary/Basic Function:
    Areas of study within the Department include Economics and Education, Education Policy, Politics and Education, and Sociology and Education. Fifteen full-time and approximately ten part-time adjuncts and instructors, instruct and advise over 200 students enrolled in these programs. The Program Manager, in conjunction with faculty members who serve as Program Directors, is responsible for the administrative management of the programs in Education Policy, Politics and Education, and History and Education. This entails continuous communication with the Program Directors and involvement in all aspects of the program including admissions, marketing, recruiting, academic advising, faculty hiring, program management, and financial oversight. This position reports to the Director of Academic Administration.

    CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Admissions:
    • Assist with the review of applications.
    • Monitor the admissions process.
    • Follow-up on additional information requests.
    • Communicate with prospective students throughout the admissions process.
    • Assist in applicant interviews and summarizing applicant status for faculty review.
    • Work with the Program Coordinator, Department, and College to set and achieve enrollment targets.
    • Analyze enrollment data and trends. Liaise with the Admissions Office.
    Program Management:
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of program policies and procedures.
    • Assist faculty with advisement (individual and group), and course plan development.
    • In conjunction with faculty, prepare scholarship recommendations.
    • Supervise and process batch registration and deposit payments.
    • Develop and update program information packets and presentations; and student advisement guide.
    • Manage preparations for program orientations and events.
    • Develop and maintain the database of programs, student cohorts, and alumni.
    • Ensure that student files are complete and up-to-date.
    • Oversee student outreach and communication.
    • Respond to student concerns and questions.
    • Assist with alumni relations and communications.
    • Prepare ad hoc materials and special projects for Program Coordinators and departments.
    • Assist in faculty searches.
    Marketing and Recruiting:
    • Advise program and department on recruitment strategies including the production of marketing materials, and supervision of mailing lists and publications distribution.
    • Supervise the design, production, and distribution of program publications for recruitment including brochures, flyers and advertisements.
    • Conduct market research.
    • Determine optimal opportunities for advertising placements.
    • Attend recruiting events and conferences.
    • Oversee website content and maintenance.
    • Maintain external relationships with organizations and institutions.
    Office Management:
    • Ensure efficient use of program space including staff and faculty offices, and common areas for students and work studies.
    • Maintain equipment inventory and make recommendations on equipment upgrades.
    Other Administrative:
    • Organize special events, including orientations, lecture series, and student events.
    • Liaise with the Department, Dean's, Associate Dean's, Registrar's; Controller's, and Financial Aid Offices.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Minimum of 3 years, of administrative experience in higher education.
    • Minimum of 5 years, of full-time administrative experience.
    • Comprehensive office management.
    • Knowledgeable of higher education institutions and culture, particularly in academic and student affairs.
    • Detail-oriented; skilled multi-tasker with team player approach; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
    • Excellent judgment and proven ability to problem-solve.
    • Strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and database capabilities).
    • Ability to successfully navigate organizational and administrative bureaucracy.
    • Excellent library and internet research skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong customer-service orientation.
    • Task-oriented with a proven ability to obtain results.
    • Demonstrated interest or background in higher education administration.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of Teachers College procedures and systems (e.g. BANNER, NOLIJ) preferred.
    • Scanning workflow and creating PDF documents is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of technology is highly desirable for the successful applicant.
    • Experience with website development and maintenance.
    Salary Range:

    70,400-78,500
