- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant Business degree required.

- Masters degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 6 years work experience in Finance / Accounting field, public accounting experience desirable.
- Strong Real Estate industry experience preferred.
- Yardi experience strongly preferred.
- Partnership experience and K-1 familiarity desired
- Strong supervisory experience required.
- Ability and experience to work independently and in a supervisory capacity.
- Ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a real estate developer, property manager and investor based in Houston, Texas. They have exceptional offices and perks including free lunch daily and free, prime parking This organization has experienced tremendous, 30% growth each year and needs to hire a Controller to manage the accounting function and team. This role will be responsible for accounting, reporting, audit and tax coordination, and all compliance with banks and loan agreements. This role will manage all accounting for more than 100 entities and set up accounting for new investments and projects. Although this is an leadership role with high responsibility, the role will require a hands-on attitude and work ethic.
This role has a small team to manage including property and senior accountants, but will be working closely with the entire organization and report to the CFO. This role will play a key role in cash management, any system changes and will gather information for all tax needs by the external CPA firm. This role will also do all budgeting and analysis of results for the organization and for each entity. This role requires a deep knowledge of the real estate industry and a commitment to work hard to accomplish company goals.
This role will also be responsible long term for family office accounting, analysis, reporting and will manage the family trusts and personal asset accounting. This role will be responsible for accounting and tax related to personal real estate assets and will need to have a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
