    Job Description Summary


    DLA Piper is seeking a non-partnership track Patent Development and Strategy Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution for our Boston, Philadelphia, DC, Reston, San Diego, Palo Alto or Seattle office.

    The successful candidate must be familiar with the patent prosecution, client counseling, drafting patent applications, freedom to operate opinions and due diligence.


    We prefer candidates with immediately transferable skills and strong academic backgrounds from nationally recognized schools as well as prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm.

    Candidates must have a chemical engineering or chemistry degree and be licensed to practice in the state in which they are officed.

    Admission to the USPTO is also required.

    While the specific job requirements of a DLA Piper position may vary depending upon scope of the job and area of specialty, there are certain universal requirements that are expected of all DLA Piper employees, which include but are not limited to:

    Requirements:

    • J.D.
    • 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution
    • Admitted to practice in the state in which they are officed
    • Direct and applicable large or mid-sized law firm experience
    • A degree in chemical engineering or chemistry
    • Registration with the USPTO
    Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements

    Sedentary work:

    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

    Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Pay Transparency


    The expected annual pay range for this position, if hired to work in California is $100,000 - $375,000 per year.

    The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate's geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications.
