Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the world's leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Proposal Analyst.

The Proposal Analyst plays an integral role in the firm's business development efforts by developing high quality, compelling, and competitive content for responses to formal requests (e.g., proposal, information, quote, bid) and other pitch opportunities for presenting Finnegan in the best way to a client or prospective client.

This position works closely with the business and client development (BCD) managers and interfaces directly with attorney teams.

It is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented person who has a passion for critical thinking, writing, and editing.


Responsibilities:


  • Upon receiving a request, the analyst:
  • Assesses the request requirements and then establishes and manages deadlines leading up to proposal submission, producing an effective response and approach positioning Finnegan to win the work. Throughout the process, the analyst will confer with the relevant BCD manager.
  • Coordinates information needed across the CDMR teams and other stakeholders and departments such as Pricing; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Human Resources; Conflicts; and Information Technology.
  • Drafts strategic and readerfriendly proposals, and presentations for BCD manager's review.
  • Customizes existing proposal content to be responsive to specific RFP questions.
  • Ensures response is tailored to client's/prospect's goals and aligned with the firm's standard of excellence and reflects the attorney stakeholders strategy for a competitive approach.
  • Manages proposal production, focusing on quality and compliance with RFP requirements, including layout and formatting.
  • Following the submission, the analyst:
  • Ensures pitch submissions are provided to the Business Development Specialist for pitch opportunity tracking in the firm's CRM.
  • Coordinates debrief discussions with BCD managers and attorney teams to identify improvement opportunities and to assess overall competitiveness.
  • For process efficiency and responsiveness, the analyst:
  • Maintains pitch templates and boilerplate language document, updating as necessary.
  • Leads quarterly quality review of pitch materials to maintain content accuracy and a current reflection of the firm's capabilities and differentiators.
  • Provides mentorship and training to Senior Business Development Coordinator and Israel Business Development Director on best practices for proposal development and coordination.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree with five years professional services experience, including two plus years of experience working in law firm environment.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including editing and proofreading
- capabilities.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Prior experience with managing and coordinating the proposal development process is
- preferred, with proven success adhering to strict deadlines.

  • Preferred familiarity with legal proposal submission platforms such as JusticeBid and PERSUIT.
  • Knowledge of and/or demonstrated aptitude for analytical research, with experience in a wide range of research tools, including advanced Internet searching, Monitor Suite, Lex Machina, Pacer, or other related legal databases.
  • Basic understanding of intellectual property law.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to synthesize data and
- succinctly convey facts and strategic implications.

  • Adept user of various technologies, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and videoconferencing technologies (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx). Exposure or experience with SharePoint a plus.
  • Ability to be a selfstarter, while also comfortable taking direction from others, while being a proactive and motivated team player.
  • Exhibit professional diplomacy under pressure and exceptional time management skills, and ability to organize and prioritize multiple and simultaneous projects in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong client service orientation with ability to deal courteously and efficiently with attorneys, clients, administrative and support staff, and outside vendors and professional peers.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively on all projects.
