Join our Team as an Accounts Payable Specialist in a Nonprofit Environment

About the Company:

Our partner, CFS of New York, collaborates with a Nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families facing Homelessness challenges in the local community. Currently undergoing remarkable expansion, they seek a skilled AP Specialist to become part of their dynamic team.

Responsibilities as the AP Specialist:

Process and input invoices in MIP for various funding sources supporting all programs
Ensure accurate coding of check requests and their allocation to the correct cash account
Attach necessary documentation such as packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices to each check request
Verify the alignment of purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices for precision
Track vendors' balances for timely and accurate payments to entities like Verizon, Cablevision, Iron Mountain, and Empire
Timely entry of check requests
Categorize invoices by funding sources and alphabetically for payment
Submit check requests to the Senior Accountant for validation
Support the Senior Accountant in compiling monthly Expense Reports for all programs
Review and reconcile petty cash
Ensure adherence to accounting deadlines
Safeguard confidential information appropriately

Your Qualifications:

Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Have over 2 years of accounting experience, particularly in DHS
Understanding of GAAP principles
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
Proficiency in Excel and MIP
