Position summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for financial, administrative, and clerical services. This includes completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.

The Accounts Payable Specialist must be able to perform a variety of accounting and bookkeeping duties according to established policies and procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following essential functions:

  • Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Checks and approves all vouchers for payment.
  • Verifies amounts charged are correct.
  • Performs inventory cost adjustments with Buyer approval, as necessary.
  • Prepares the necessary paperwork for payment made by electronic transfer.
  • Prepares invoice deduction notices.
  • Audits freight bills against freight manifests.
  • Inputs and prints accounts payable checks.
  • Reconciles accounts payable transactions and reports discrepancies.
  • Mails or distributes signed checks.
  • Maintains vendor files, updates vendor information, and answers all vendor inquiries.
  • Tracks expenses and processes expense reports.
  • Prepares analysis of accounts.
  • Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
  • Assists in month end closing and produces monthly reports.
  • Processes and reconciles customer credits against A/R invoices and reconciles with inventory receiving.
  • Vehemently adheres to company internal controls and transaction authorization hierarchy
  • Provides supporting documentation for audits.
  • Protects organization's values by keeping information confidential.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration related field or equivalent preferred
  • 14 years related experience and/or training.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of administrative and bookkeeping procedures, including proofing and checking work.
  • Strong mathematical background and skills.
  • Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers accurately.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Familiarity with office equipment.
  • Ability to use 10digit print display calculator.
  • Meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent problemsolving and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good common sense and sound judgment.

Pay:
$55, $60,000.00 per year
