Description

We are seeking to add to our team a Veterinary Technician Assistant. Our hospital provides exceptional veterinary care and support to our community's pets and an assistant's role is an integral part of a successful veterinary practice. The ideal candidate should have animal care experience, the passion to work in the veterinary field with the desire to learn the basics and excel in those roles under the technicians and doctors. Often assisting the kennel and reception desk with any needs of the hospital, the technician assistant will take on a large range of job duties while working well within a small team. This individual will have a strong sense of self-awareness and maintain a positive work attitude with the ability to manage the many emotions that come within the veterinary field. Being reliable and able to work the shifts assigned, assist in all aspects of daily operations including client service duties.

Assist and support the Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarian with all of their duties; perform and accurately record evaluations, examinations, vaccination, and medical treatments of patients
Under the wing of the technician, learn how to perform Radiography; taking digital radiographs of animals both awake and anesthetized
Under the wing of the technician, learn Pharmaceuticals; accurately dispense and track medications; learn general knowledge of medications
Assist with humane euthanasia
Under the wing of the technician and the Veterinarian, work in cooperation within different departments to ensure medical records and billing is up to date and correct; light administrative and receptionist duties; general nightly hospital clean up
Strong interpersonal and clientele customer service a must; being able to communicate in a professional manner
Be able to lift animals that weigh 50lbs and assist with lifting animals that weigh more
