Grant Writer/Proposal Coordinator

Founded in 1925, Volkert is celebrating a century of serving our employees, clients, partners, and communities. We are currently searching for an experienced Grant Writer/Proposal Coordinator to support our West Gulf Region.

(This is a hybrid position and will work in one of our West Gulf offices - Arkansas, Louisiana, or Mississippi.) The successful candidate should have experience in technical writing, professional editing, grant writing, or proposal coordination in the A/E and transportation industries.

Knowledge of In-Design and the Adobe Suite of products is a plus. Grant writing and proposal coordination are deadline-driven, detail-oriented environments, with evolving priorities as opportunities arise.

This means our Grant Writer/Proposal Coordinator needs to be focused and organized, yet flexible; creative, but with excellent time and project management skills; and a team player with the ability to work independently.

What you'll be doing:
Identifying opportunities and leading the development, writing and submission of grant proposals to local, state, and federal entities, and nongovernmental funding sources

Working closely with project managers/technical staff and other marketing staff to organize and manage layout, design, and delivery of grant submittals as well as RFP/RFQ responses and presentations

Developing, writing, editing, and proofreading content including grant submittals, proposals, presentations, project descriptions, staff resumes, and marketing collateral

Managing a grants calendar and a proposal calendar and keeping track of various deadlines

Studying and understanding the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of Volkert and our clients

Informing staff and answering questions regarding allowability of proposed expenditures related to all grants

Responding to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals

Coordinating with multiple departments to gather necessary information for proposals, and data to report on achievement and evaluation of grant goals and objectives

Maintaining positive relationships with funders and other stakeholders

Maintaining compliant records and submitting reports related to granting entities

What you need to have:
Bachelor's degree

2-3 years' experience in grant writing or proposal writing with a strong preference for experience with federal grant programs or proposal coordination in the engineering industry

Demonstrated experience in identifying, applying for, and receiving grants from public and private sources

Highly organized with strong research and budget development skills

Superior writing, editing, and communication skills

Skills in internet prospecting and research

Experience working in a deadline-driven environment

Excellent research, analysis, and reporting skills

Integrity and a sense of humor
