- Provides comprehensive medical, preventive and therapeutic health care services at a primary and secondary level in the specialty of pediatrics in an inpatient, Newborn Nursery, Emergency dept., and outpatient settings.
- Examines and diagnoses the health-related conditions of individuals requesting care, refers individuals for consultation when appropriate, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate therapy in compliance with approved clinical privileges.
- Prescribes medications and therapies within approved clinical privileges and per standards of care of symptoms and illnesses. Monitor effectiveness of medications and therapies.
- Performs administrative and clinical supervision of pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners. Ensure completion of and monitoring of required training, orientation, peer review, ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations, and chart reviews are completed for and by staff. Initiate personnel actions including recruitment, selection, promotion, and termination of medical staff positions. Periodic professional and performance evaluation.
- In collaboration with Service Unit Leadership, directs the development of standard operation procedures and policies, including monitoring compliance and periodic review. Assists Service Unit Leadership with monitoring and developing improvement plans to medical departments in meeting Quality performance measures. Assists medical staff and Leadership in reviewing risk management issues and performing quality reviews. Collaborates with leadership to achieve and maintain certification by accrediting agencies (e.g. Joint Commission, CMS).
