- Provides independent, preventative, therapeutic and comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care.
- Manages the care of women during the prenatal, intra-partum and post-partum period, and provides teaching, counseling and support to patients.
- Provides on-call services and midwife/women's health care in the clinic, hospital, emergency department and outreach settings.
- Performs or requests special screening and laboratory tests and interprets results, which includes performance of sexual assault examinations.
- Collaborates with Obstetricians and Gynecologists when caring for women's health care.

The purpose of this position is to serve as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Midwife) who plans and provides women's health care with an emphasis on the reproductive cycle including management of intrapartum period for normal and high risk mothers. The position is located at the Pine Ridge Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD which is a facility within the Indian Health Service Great Plains Area. The position reports to the Supervisory Physician (OB/GYN).
