- Professionals with one year of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 3 or 4
- Bachelors degree and three years of experience examining/processing medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or a job providing staff support in public assistance eligibility determination, or in a job analyzing, verifying, and evaluating financial data and information
- Three years of out-of-state experience, conducting financial eligibility determination for public assistance including financial, medical, and food benefit programs will be considered toward experience
- Previous experience with Home and Community Services is a plus

DSHS ALTSA Public Benefits Specialist Supervisor
Home and Community Services, as a division of the Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) promotes, plans, develops, and provides an array of long-term services and supports to persons age eighteen and older with disabilities, seniors, and caregivers. These services and supports are intended to maximize the independence, dignity, and quality of life of these individuals.
The Public Benefits Specialist 5 supervises a unit of Public Benefits Specialists who determine eligibility for financial, medical, food, and long-term service and support programs. This is an opportunity to contribute to regional policy designs and gain management experience.
Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
