**Material Handler / Carpenter**

**Job Description**

Manually, by hand truck, forklift, truck, or overhead crane moves materials, supplies, and

finished goods to designated places in the facility.

Operates forklift to load and unload company trucks and supplier trucks

Drives truck to and from various intraplant locations to deliver or pick up materials, supplies,

and finished goods

Stacks skids or pallets in designated areas. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing,

packaging material, pallets and skids

Uses tools such as hammers, crowbars, and tin snips to remove strapping, open crates or

close crates.

Secures loads on truck by straps, chains, rope or other securing medium.

Performs cleanup/housekeeping activities

Assists with shear operations and inspection operations by moving material onto and off of

tables, pallets or other holding devices

Assists with inventory counting and verification of stock

Packs and protects materials, supplies and finished goods either for storage or transport

Performs safety checks and inspections of equipment (truck, forklift, overhead crane, straps

and lifting devices) as assigned

Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed for building crates cutting, shaping and smoothing lumber and other material according to measurements

Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials

Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (circular saws, hammers, rulers, jig saw, nail guns, staplers

Must be able to measure aircraft parts and be able to build crates for shipments/transportation

Proven experience as carpenter

Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management

**Skills & Qualifications**

Good verbal communication skills

Read and understand material inventory tags, skid tags and material receiving documentation

Read and understand basic routing instructions and bill of material

Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions

Willing to work overtime and weekend hours to support manufacturing and preparation for

audits and inventories

Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.

Conscientiously reports problems or malfunctions of equipment.

Experience/Training/Education/Certification: To perform this job successfully, an individual

must posses the outlined experience level, education, training and certifications in order to be

considered.

Forklift certified

Good driving record, Class B license

Overhead crane operation Successful completion of overhead crane training course

High school diploma or equivalent. Good math skills add, subtract, count, divide, multiply

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must

be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be in good physical condition, job requires strenuous activities and lots of walking

Must be able to climb in and out of trucks and off and on large forklifts

Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and climb a ladder in order to read inventory tags and

material skid tags and box markings

Able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. Able to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 50

pounds

Good hand/eye coordination and good motor skills.
