    Description

    Fire Support Specialist at Army National Guard

    Come join our elite field artillery team as a Fire Support Specialist in the Army National Guard. You will play a crucial role in providing intelligence support to infantry and tank units during combat operations, all while acquiring valuable skills that can benefit your civilian career.

    • Become an expert communicator by establishing, maintaining, and operating communications equipment
    • Operate laser range finders and encode/decode messages
    • Assist in preparing and distributing fire support plans
    • Determine target locations using computers or manual calculations
    • Supervise and train other Soldiers as your skills progress
    • Prepare observer target lists and initiate suppressive fire
    • Select and man observation posts

    Helpful Skills:

    • Physically and mentally fit to perform under pressure
    • Ability to multitask
    • Learn skills applicable to civilian careers in computer consulting, information technology support, or data processing

    In the Army National Guard, you'll not only gain these critical skills but also get paid to train. After 10 weeks of Basic Training focusing on fundamental Soldiering skills, you will proceed to six weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). This training will cover hands-on and classroom sessions where you will master target location computation, ammunition handling techniques, system operations, and artillery tactics.
