    With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

    This position is located and worked within the SC Department of Mental Health - Inpatient Services at Bryan Psychiatric Hospital or C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center in Columbia, SC.

    The Food Services Specialist III (Dining) works under the Dining and Catering Manager and/or Area supervisors supervising assigned staff in operation of multiple dining rooms in compliance with department, local, state and federal guidelines.

    Responsibilities of the Food Services Specialist III - Dining include but are not limited to:
    • Supervises other staff in and operates all food rethermalization, refrigeration equipment, and serving/assembling equipment to serve clients hot and cold meal requirements.
    • Supervises other staff in and prepares, portions, assembles, and serves meals per menu specification.
    • Assists in the preparation of staff schedules to provide effective coverage, assigning job duties, and organizing staff for daily work production requirements.
    • Maintains records for inventories, quality control, quality assurance, sanitation check list, temperature, charts, and all other records necessary for the operation of the dining rooms. Maintains HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards compliance in all work areas.
    • Trains new staff.

    Minimum and Additional Requirements

    There are no minimum training and experience requirements for this class.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Possesses strong knowledge of working cafeteria style/ mass food service operation, customer service application, and safe handling of food. Ability to supervise and lead staff in meeting required food production and solve problems that arise; general working knowledge of food service equipment.

    Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
    Additional Comments

    Physical ability to manually lift 40 lbs. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, climb stairs position or stand for extended periods of time. May encounter temperatures ranging from 20 degrees periods F to 400 degrees F to around equipment.
