    Job Overview: MCF seeks a dynamic Director of Educational Outreach to join our team. This role is central to implementing our 2024 – 2026 strategic plan priority to establish a hands-on education and outreach plan to reach Monmouth County residents of all ages, focused on environmental sustainability and quality of life issues related to the mission. The Director of Educational Outreach will work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Acquisitions, and Director of Development and Communications to develop and execute a comprehensive educational outreach plan. This is a permanent, full-time position.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with the Monmouth University School of Education faculty member who is overseeing the development of a suite of MCF lesson plans for Preschool through Grade 12.
    • Compile these lesson plans and develop complementary, public-friendly educational activities and materials - for use in MCF's mobile educational unit, field trips, and at MCF's Scudder Preserve.
    • Coordinate with Monmouth University and other partners to host teacher professional development and field experiences.
    • Create classes, educational programs, field trips, lectures, and activities for a range of audiences at the Scudder Preserve.
    • Build and foster relationships with Monmouth County public and private schools, and other community entities for field trips and collaborations.
    • Create and host an interactive exhibit(s) for tables at events, such as environmental and community fairs.
    • Develop strategic outreach and program opportunities with existing and new community partners at local, regional, state, and national levels; participate in relevant community events.
    • Work to enhance MCF's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiative to serve all residents of Monmouth County. Prioritize educational outreach programming in underserved communities.
    • Develop and implement strategies (e.g. lunch and learns, corporate volunteer days) for corporate partner engagement. Identify and support new and existing corporate relationships.
    • Build and coordinate volunteer docent program for the mobile education unit and at the Scudder Preserve.
    • Collaborate with MCF staff colleagues to identify and pursue additional grant opportunities related to educational outreach.
    • Assist with MCF's annual Spring for Conservation Family Day event to host educational activities.
    • Devise evaluations and tracking metrics for educational outreach programs and activities.
    • Stay current on best practices, education trends, and standards.
    • Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Trustees' Educational Outreach Committee.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required. Preference for degree in environmental science.
    • At least five years of proven experience developing and evaluating, selecting, and successfully operationalizing innovative programs, preferably in a non-profit or conservation-focused organization.
    • Love of teaching and learning, and an appreciation of learners at all levels and abilities.
    • Experience developing or managing volunteer programs, and a sincere interest in working with volunteers.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
    • Passion for environmental conservation and MCF's mission.
    • Commitment to MCF's values, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
    • A valid U.S. driver's license and reliable transportation.
    • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends.

    Compensation: The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000, based on experience, plus a benefits package that includes healthcare support and personal leave, vacation, and sick day allotments.
