English Language (ELL) /Refugee Health Promotion (RHP) Instructor for IRISE:

Reformed Church of Highland Park Affordable Housing Corporation (RCHP-AHC)

Position Description

This hybrid position is for an English Language Learning (ELL)/Refugee Health Promotion (RHP) instructor who would provide direct instruction and facilitate educational health activities to IRISE refugee clients.

This position is located in Neptune, NJ.

The position will entail teaching 4 courses to adult ELL learners with an eye to clients in the Neptune area. Courses will be in person in the Neptune area and a possible night or weekend online course. The primary role of the ELLfocused instruction would be to teach English speaking and literacy skills to ELL learners.
Biweekly health education classes and targeted health outreach activities for medical and mental health navigation and support focused on the unique needs of refugee communities. Many of the health education topics would be embedded within the normal ELL curriculum and would dovetail the 2 roles.

ELL- specific duties would include:

Teaching an alllevel conversation class (1.5 hours 1x/ week)
Teaching 2 beginner speaking and literacy classes (3 instructional hours 2 or 3x/week).
Teaching an online ELL evening course (3 instructional hours 2 or 3x/week).
Collaborating with the ELL director to further refine and embed mental and medical health topics within the existing curriculum.

RHP-specific duties would include:

Provide biweekly health literacy and navigation support to qualified refugee and ORReligible populations.
Coordinate with local public health departments, health care providers and ethnic communitybased organizations to provide information pertinent to the unique health concerns facing refugees.

Other ELL/RHP Instructor duties would include:

Case noting client attendance and specific ELL/RHP instructor client services.
Meeting weekly with the ELL director to communicate needs and progress.
Participating monthly in ELL staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned

Compensation
This position is for 40 hours/week at $47,500/year plus benefits.
