    About the Job

    We currently have an exciting opportunity for Manager, Payroll to join the Tailored Brands Payroll team.


    In this role, you will oversee payroll management services to the organization by ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time.

    This includes ensuring that all the necessary deductions are handled correctly and remitted to the relevant stakeholders on time. This is a hybrid position working one day per week onsite at the Houston Corporate office.

    What You'll Do | Key Accountabilities


    • Manage and guarantee disbursement of multi-state payroll for 20,000 employees consistent with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
    • Maintain a high level of customer service including timely research and response to inquiries and consultation on payroll issues including tax and regulatory matters.
    • Provide subject matter expertise regarding payroll, by answering questions and requests.
    • Critically review and analyze current payroll procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best practices.
    • Collaborate with various internal groups to develop, test and implement changes to the payroll applications.
    • Ensure strict adherence to established internal controls and SOX compliance procedures.
    • Handle highly confidential information and relate well with all levels of the organization.
    • Lead, mentor and professionally develop payroll team members toward the achievement of department, company, and personal goals.
    • Manage and maintain positive relationships with vendors and service providers.
    • Ensure that customers, partners, and stakeholders are kept up to date with appropriate, timely, and relevant communication of trends, issues, and services.
    • Ensure reconciliation and analysis of related balance sheet accounts, ledgers, and journals.
    • Lead cross-functional project teams to drive successful delivery of process improvements in the process flows to and from the payroll department.

    What You'll Bring | Skills & Experience


    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
    • 7 years supervisory experience with exposure to a multi-state, multi-company payroll with a high-volume employee base
    • Strong leadership and employee management skills and the ability to promote and maintain open communications and a collaborative team environment.
    • PeopleSoft for North America and PeopleSoft Time and Labor experience is preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge of U.S. Payroll laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures, audit, and internal control guidelines
    • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is strongly desired.
    • Experience working in a high volume, multi-state employer payroll environment including taxation and withholdings.
    • Committed to excellence, continuously look for improvement, ability to work independently, and highly organized with excellent follow-up skills.
    • Must be a hands on manager and have the ability to problem solve and manage and lead staff to excellent performance.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills
    • Extensive internal control oversight experience and accounting knowledge
    • Strong problem resolution skills and ability to assess when an issue must be escalated to the next level.
    • Strong skills in multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple deliverables and distractions.
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced Excel skills required.
    • Strong payroll system experience with the ability to troubleshoot system issues.
    • Ability to work and manage employees effectively within a collaborative team environment.
    • Prior system conversion experience, a plus
    • Retail or commissioned based payroll experience a plus.
    Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands


    • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily.
    • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
    • Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
    • Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from a hybrid location near the Houston Oak Park Corporate office.
